“
When I think of being sheltered from a storm, my mind goes to a hurricane shelter. The shelter is used to protect us from the danger the weather presents. We trust
operators of the shelter to keep us safe as long as the need is there.
There's another shelter…. A shelter from the storms of life. We can trust the operator of this shelter—more than those who run hurricane shelters.
We can trust God to never leave us and never let us down.
When we feel as though we're backed into a corner so dark we can't emerge, we can take comfort that the darkness we're facing is –the Shadow of His wing.
So let me encourage you today—Run to the Safe Shelter. There's not a better place for you to find comfort, peace and rest. And if you're hearing about this provider of a shelter for the very first time, you can come as well. Just ask the Lord to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart. It's that simple!
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NLT).
"Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. (Rev. 3:20 NLT).
Prayer: Father, You are our Shield, our Strong Tower, and our Refuge. Help us to run into your safe, secure Shelter. Amen.

I love your strong statement: “When we feel as though we're backed into a corner so dark we can't emerge, we can take comfort that the darkness we're facing is –the Shadow of His wing.”
Ladies, can you relate? Has your past or present circumstances caused you to feel you were backed into a dark corner you couldn’t escape? Did you experience the shadown and safety of His wings?
Thought for the week: Darkness cannot hide the face of our Savior…we are being held under the Shadow of God’s Wing!
Dear Friends, its your time to leave a word of encouragement for someone who may be struggling in a dark place today. Please leave a comment below.
God bless you all,

I think we all feel backed into a corner at some point in time. I am just so thankful that my Father lets me rest and protects me under his wing. Thanks for the reminder that we all can rest in him.

ReplyDeleteI so agree Mary Jane! Her voice speaks directly to the soul...so personal, comforting, and soothing!
DeleteDebbie, I thought of you as I wrote this post. I'm sure you feel backed into a corner at times with the situation you're going through, but you still find your way out and praise God even in the midst of it.
ReplyDeleteMary Jane, Thank you for your sweet words!

More and more as I study this passage, I am convinced that the Lord's secret place is in the shadow of His Wing. That is where I want to dwell.
ReplyDeleteNan,
DeleteAnd what a dwelling place...the secret place of overshadowing! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the beautiful encouragement. Today's message reminds me of one of my favorite verses from the Psalms:
ReplyDeleteBecause you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 63:7
As one who loves to sing, I especially appreciate the picture of me singing under His wing.
Thanks for sharing your comments Tee-Tee, Hester, and Vonda. Oh to continue to dwell and sing under His wing!

Jamie, I have never heard darkness described as being under His wing! That is an everlasting comfort to me. Thanks so much for sharing. BTW, I was able to join the ladies at the Christian Communicators Conference this year. I noticed your picture with Edie and Vonda. Aren't they great?
ReplyDeleteCarol,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were given comfort through Jamie's writing about being held under His wing during times of darkness. It is a powerful statement isn't it? So glad you were part of CCC this year. Thanks for stopping by...it is so encouraging to both Jamie and I.
Jamie, I love your perspective about the darkness being only the shadow of His wing. A reminder that God is always at work, loving and supporting us through every circumstance life throw at us. Thank you reminding us of this truth.

Thank you for the comforting picture of God's covering when we're smothering in circumstances. . .He is there to shed light and lead us out from the dark corner. I love the mutual ministry you girls are sharing with your readers! Thank you both!
