They will fight against you,
But they shall not prevail against you.
For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.” (Jeremiah 1:19, NKJV)
The thoughts swirled around in my head. It was as if the enemy had been given a pass that gave him the freedom to get inside my mind and take over!
"I don't feel like writing. I don't feel worthy. I'm not as good as you." The enemy was having a field day with me that night. I was comparing myself to another writer. I was told, "write anyway. And yes you are worthy...because God gave you the call." Edie Melson helped me put things into perspective that day. My mind also goes back to a time when she forced me to turned to her and repeat the words, "I am a writer." When she responded with "you're a writer because Edie Melson said so," that changed my life. Ladies, are the thoughts spinning around in your head? Are they telling you how much you're not worthy of the call God has placed on your life? Are you comparing yourself to another? My sweet sister, Satan is a liar! He's here to kill, steal and destroy. Let's stand up and refuse to let him!
Father, thank You for friends that will give us the perspective we need to have. Thank You Lord for giving us each an indevidual call on our life. Help us each to use it effectively for You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Satan is a liar Jamie.Thank you for reminding us of that. God has called so many to write for Him. I am glad you obeyed. God Bless you as you continue to be His pen.
ReplyDeleteGlad we're sister bloggers, Jamie. I look forward to being encouraged by your posts.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, Jamie! When we compare ourselves to others we are playing a dangerous game created by the enemy.
ReplyDeleteI'm out! And I'm glad you are too. :) Thanks for the encouragement.
Wow, Jamie. We're on the same page this week! And so is Hester! God is working on our thought-lives and that's always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement this morning!
Oh Jamie -- how interesting is this: You, Me and Susan are all on the same page this week -- My post for tomorrow addresses this very thing.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you as you cast the enemies thoughts in the trash where they belong.
Love to you, Hester ;)
Yep! You hit the nail on the head,Jamie. And it's so easy to be fooled by his lies since we oftenstruggle with self-doubt anyway. And in comparing myself to others. Edie's done the same for me too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post, Jamie! Have you ever read "Lies Women Believe: and the Truth that Sets them Free" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss? I've started a new series every Monday on my blog highlighting some of the main truths she presents in the book: www.CapacityCorner.blogspot.com Yes, Satan is a liar, and has won a victory, if we don't combat his lies with the truth!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Bethany
Yes, Satan is a liar. Jesus called him a liar and the father of lies. Jesus also said more than 75 times in the Gospels that He tells us the truth!
ReplyDeleteWe need to listen to the One who whispers words of love--not lies--in our ears.
Thanks for the reminder!
Jamie, you have a gift...the gift of encouragement. You bless so many people through this blog. I agree with Edie. YOU.ARE.A.WRITER!
ReplyDeleteDear Jamie,
ReplyDeleteI read another post by you which was similar, and the words, "I am a writer" stuck in my head. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was unable to sleep and here was the conviction of the Holy Spirit... "What are you doing with the talent I gave you? You were born to write! I created you for this very thing!" So your post again confirms the voice of the Holy Spirit.
So after that, I felt encouraged and started micro blogging on my Facebook page. I write mostly in Spanish, my native language, because most of the people in my friends' list are Argentinian. And there are many many unbelievers in that group. Some have already began to comment on my writings.
I totally agree with Pat you are an encourager and you ARE a writer!
P.S. I'll be visiting your blog and Nan's more often, since the Lord is speaking to me a lot through you!
ReplyDeleteMary, thanks for stopping by and for your encouragement!
ReplyDeleteKathy, glad to see you here and welcome as a commenter!
Cathy, thanks for your encouragement!
Ellen, thank you for your sweet words!
Susan, it's neat that we're all on the same page! God must've had planned!
Hester, thanks for your sweet words.
Pat, thanks for stopping by!
Vonda, Thanks for all your help throughtout these years of this jurney of writing!
Kari, I'm so glad the Lord confirmed your calling to you!
Bethany, I've not read the book you mentioned but I'll check it out!
Blessings all!
This is something that Satan brings up a lot with me. When he does, I try to focus on the time when God spoke to me about writing and speaking. I said, "But, Lord, I don't have anything to say." "That's okay," He said, "I have plenty." Just can't argue with that!
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie...I am looking forward to meeting you at boot camp in a couple of weeks. As a newbie in the writing realm I can relate to your thoughts. It is hard for us to see ourselves as writers, especially when we look around and see those who have accomplished so much more. But if we do not see ourselves as writers, how can we expect anyone else too. If God has called us to write....we ARE writers! Write on!
