Who Are You?

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (1 Peter 2:9, NKJV)

Over the last few weeks, I've struggled to know who I am. Because of some circumstances, I've felt like I have no value. I've felt as though my relationships mean nothing, that I'm not even worth having as a friend. But through some dear friends reassurances and through my Jesus, I've realized all those things are lies from the enemy. I do have worth. I do have value. You know what ladies? This verse tells me that I'm a royal daughter of the King. Not only am I royalty, I'm set apart. Because I'm all those things, I'm to praise Him for bringing me out of the darkness into His light. Do you feel devalued today? Do you feel like you're worthless? Let me say, you're not devalued. You're not worthless.

Father, thank You for giving us our worth. Thank You for letting us know that our value isn't in people; it's in You. Lord we love You and we praise You. Amen.

  1. Jamie,
Praising the Lord for the victory He gives in Jesus. So grateful the This reminds me of scripture from Isaiah 62:4,5 "It will no longer be said to you, 'forsaken, desolate, but you will be called, 'My delight is in her'. As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your God will rejoice over you. Praise God for the victory God gives us through Christ Jesus our Lord. Hugs to you dear friend!

  2. It's really easy to fall into the trap of believing we're not worth what God says. Society bombards us with ideas that our money, or our independence, or accomplishments define us. More than that, the degree society places on them determines our self-worth.

But society can't be counted on. Society and its values change, so we can't buy into it.

God's word, and His character NEVER change, so only what He says can be trusted. And He says we are worth the sacrifice of His son simply because of who we are. Who He created us to be. We have to hold onto this, as it's the one thing that is stable in this ever-changing world.

  3. Amen, Sister! Thank you for the reminder of who I am, regardless of what the world or the culture or my family says...

  4. Amen, Jamie! I wish this truth could sink into the hearts of young women especially. Our culture says if we don't look a certain way or purchase a particular brand we're not "worthy". Oh, the beauty of God's truth cuts through the deception and aims straight for the heart.

We are daughters of an amazing Father -- and I'm thankful to be your sis in Christ!!

  5. Oh Jamie, I'm SO sorry you've had such a struggle! You know your friends love you very much, but even then, we can't love you like Jesus can. Praying you feel His warm embrace today.
    Love you!

  7. Jamie, You're so right-- our value is in God, not from people. ;) And yes, I too have experienced such lies from the enemy. So thankful for your friends who spoke truth into your heart.

  8. Jamie, you of all people! You are a precious jewel, a little child before an almighty DAD who really loves you. You should never have such thoughts.

You have helped me so much in my own struggles. Your sweet, simple but deep words have brought me back to life! Remember? I was lost, totally disoriented regarding my gifts, and the Lord used YOU to confirm what He'd spoken to my heart.
In fact, if I remember correctly, it was TWO blog entries from you. One BEFORE the conversation with Jesus, to prepare me for it, and the other AFTER the conversation, to confirm His calling. Your blog was THE first human confirmation of the private dealings of the Lord with me. And it was SO effective that look at me!
I'M WRITING AGAIN BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU DID THIS! Yes, it was the Lord. AND IT WAS YOU GIVING ME THE FINAL PUSH I NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE BOAT AND BEGIN TO WALK ON WATER!
So I will not allow any more of this silliness. YOU ARE A PRINCESS! Is that settled? Say AMEN!

  12. I think this is one of Satan's biggest strongholds on girls, ladies and women today. He knows if he can get us to begin thinking of ourselves in this way, then we will not only devalue ourselves but will begin to withdraw from others and from God. I so struggle with my daughter over how she feels so worthless and devalued. No matter what we tell her, she doesn't believe it. (She is just now a teenager). Oh how I pray, I pray, that God will reach down and fill your life with such a newness and awareness of Him and how much He cares about you. That you will KNOW, not just in your mind, but in your heart that you are so special and so loved and such a wonderful encouragement and friend to so many. We are His workmanship, fearfully and wonderfully made. No matter how we look on the outside, or how we THINK we look to others, God sees our hearts and He LOVES LOVES LOVES us for who we are...His daughters.
